Fecal Response for Diarrhea Discharge Incidents (w/ stabilizer in pool)

  1. Remove swimmers from the water, remove feces as able.
  2. While maintaining the pH at 7.5 or lower, raise the chlorine level (using non-stabilized chlorine) to level below. Turn off stabilizer feeder if applicable (Dichlor, Trichlor, etc).
  3. If stabilizer level is 1-15 ppm,
  • Raise free chlorine to 20 ppm and maintain for 28 hours OR…30 ppm and maintain for 18 hours OR...40 ppm and maintain for 8.5 hours
  • If CYA is more than 15 ppm
    • Lower concentration to 1-15 ppm with partial drain and fresh make up water … then...
    • Raise free chlorine to 20 ppm and maintain for 28 hours OR…30 ppm and maintain for 18 hours OR...40 ppm and maintain for 8.5 hours
  • Afterwards, backwash filter to waste
  • Once chlorine and pH are returned to normal levels, open to customers.
